USA Basketball Fall Mini-Camp Recap

The nation’s top prospects in the classes of 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030 converged in Colorado Springs this past weekend for USA Basketball’s Fall Junior National Team Mini Camp. Many of the top ranked players in our MADE Hoops class rankings were in attendance.

Beckham Black (#1 in 2027), Cayden Daughtry (#2 in 2027), Demarcus Henry (#4 in 2027), Colton Hiller (#1 in 2028), Josiah Rose (#4 in 2028), RJ Evans (#1 in 2029), JJ Crawford (#2 in 2029), Draydne McDaniel (#3 in 2029), and Mason Grivna (#4 in 2029) all came to show their skills in front of NBA front office members, scouts, and national media members.

Top Performers

Groups for drill work and scrimmages are split in two; with the classes of 2030 and 2029 competing in one gym and the classes of 2028 and 2027 in the other. Read below about some of the standouts from each group.

Draydne McDaniel | Prolific Prep (FL) | 2029 | 6’7

McDaniel was among the most impressive players throughout camp. He showed impressive playmaking, versatility, and leadership for a young player with his size and athletic tools.

Grant Duggins | Greensboro Day (NC) | 2029 | 6’10

Duggins left camp with significant buzz around his performance. His level of skill for his size and position shined in three days of action. Legitimate passing, some surprising vertical pop at the rim, and an overall high level of skill and feel headlined his game.

London Jackson | San Antonio Harlan (TX) | 2029 | 6’6

Jackson was among the most consistent performers on the weekend, impacting winning basketball at a high level. The wing shot the ball exceptionally well from three point distance, rebounded well, and showed great feel as both a cutter and passer.

Austin Acy | Chaminade (CA) | 2029 | 6’5

Acy made real noise with his play throughout camp. Already a top-10 player in our 2029 class rankings, Acy made a real case to rise a few spots. A blend of size, length, athleticism, and developing offensive skill give Acy excellent versatility on both sides of the floor. His impact was felt all over the floor whether it was getting downhill, making plays in transition, securing rebounds, or getting stops defensively.

Bryce Irby | Lutheran East (OH) | 2029 | 6’6

Irby was a real riser in the national rankings at the end of the summer. He continued to prove he belongs in the conversation of top prospects when talking about the 2029 class. The wing has a very smooth, fluid offensive game and explosive athleticism at the rim that make him a nightmare matchup.

Aylen Garnett | Touchet (WA) | 2030 | 6’1

Garnett was among the most impressive 2030 prospects in attendance. Despite being one of the younger players at camp, Garnett made a splash on the offensive end of the floor. His shooting was his greatest strength, finding open opportunities and making shots at an elite level.

DJ Parker | Duncanville (TX) | 2030 | 6’7

Parker was another 2030 standout, especially in the last day of camp. His motor, strength, and athleticism made him a serious force around the rim. Not only was he a consistent interior presence, Parker also showed he can attack downhill off the bounce and knock down shots when left open.

Demarcus Henry | Arizona Compass Prep (AZ) | 2027 | 6’8

I thought Henry had the best weekend of anyone at camp. A move up in the 2027 rankings for him is firmly under consideration after what he has done at Mini Camp and the previous weekend at Border League. As far as potential down the line, Henry has as much as anyone in the 2027 class. Real ability to create for himself off the dribble, elite defensive versatility and rebounding, and ability to play multiple roles depending on what his team needs are among his greatest strengths.

Mason Collins | Tatnall School (DE) | 2028 | 6’6

Collins had a strong showing throughout mini-camp. He is an excellent connector for his team, guarding multiple positions, making plays for others, and converting as a scorer with efficiency from each level of the floor.

Mateen Cleaves Jr | Dream City Christian (AZ) | 2028 | 6’3

Cleaves Jr is poised for a big jump in the 2028 rankings at our next update. His feel and decision making with the ball in his hands are elite. Rarely making mistakes, finding ways to get two feet in the paint, and elevating the game of everyone around him are among his strongest traits on the floor.

Asa Montgomery | Hillgrove (GA) | 2027 | 6’6

Montgomery is another player that will almost certainly be making a jump in our next rankings update. He stood out all weekend with his cutting, finishing around the rim, and defensive impact. The wing has the skillset and versatility to thrive in any system and take on whatever role his team needs from him.
