MADE Alum BB Washington Commits to FGCU

2024 three-star guard and MADE Hoops alum Jackson 'BB' Washington has committed to Florida Gulf Coast. Washington chose the Eagles over additional offers from nine other programs -- Akron, Miami (OH), Kent State, Illinois State, UTRGV, Manhattan, Belmont, Kennesaw State, and New Hampshire. He joins Philly point guard Darren Williams as the second member of the class.

Washington, who MADE considers to be one of the prospects to watch this winter in terms of the being on the brink of the 2024 rankings, has grown from 6'4" to about 6'5" over the last year. He's got knockdown shooting ability on the wing, having shot 42% from three in EYBL play last season on high volume before carrying that over to Team Mookie Betts to finish the year. He's also got athleticism that has really come along over the last year, becoming super bouncy and utilizing more explosiveness on both ends of the court.

The three-star guard, who is a MADE Hoops Alum from 2021 and 2023 Midwest High School Academies, broke down his commitment with the Eagles below.

Why Florida Gulf Coast: "Honestly, I could give you three great reasons. One, how the players and coaches interacted with each other, it was like a family. You could feel that energy and that was something that I wanted to be around. Number two was their plan of development for me, they're so detailed and specific to each individual player and how they want them to develop. That just shows how much they want to be together as a team. They showed me things that I need to improve on and how they see me fitting in their program. I realized I could really use this and I know that I would be in great hands. And then number three, I've never felt like this before. As soon as I got to the airport I was like I can't wait to come back, I have to. That was a really big thing. The culture and everything there was absolutely amazing, I could tell that the program is going in a great direction."

Players He Bonded With On The Visit: "I would say all of them, really, but Dakota (Rivers) and Brandon (Dwyer) were guys I hangout with a lot. They're really cool to be around."

What FGCU Is Getting In BB Washington: "Someone that gives their best, someone that's always going to compete, and someone who's always going to have fun out there. I look forward to having fun, just being around the fans and having a connection with them. I'm really looking forward to all of that."
