NY Hoops: Fordham Offers Pair of Local Sophomore Big Men
February 11, 2025 by Brian Reichert
The Lawrence Woodmere Blue team had a lot of doubters when Head Coach Tiny Morton took over. Morton and his staff built a tremendous roster plus set up an elite schedule for his players. They have been terrific this year and yesterday their program got excellent news when Fordham decided to offer their big men.
Their starting 6’11” Sophomore C Caleb Ourigou has been a force inside, protecting the paint, anchoring the defense and moving bodies on screens. He’s so tough on the glass, has nice hands, a soft touch around the rim and his effort has really improved. Ourigou has been working on his conditioning, his body, his motor, shooting and defensive footwork. This 2027 big is a serious prospect in his class and should continue to climb the rankings over the next few years. Fordham joins St. Johns as his only offers but expect that all to change in the upcoming months.
Next is 6’8” sophomore Dylan Cudjoe who came over from Baldwin and has helped the front court tremendously. The bouncy forward is an excellent athlete who’s quickly leaving the project phase of his basketball career. He’s way more effective, he always brings effort, guards multiple positions, beats his man down the floor and doesn’t need plays to be productive. His coaching staff is gaining confidence in him, he’s getting more opportunities and the guards are trusting him more. While Ourigou already has a D1 offer with a lot of interest, this is Cudjoe’s first one. The Rams would love to bring in both these guys but unfortunately they should be highly sought after over the next few seasons.
