Top-120 2025 G Isaac Carr chooses Oregon

THE LEAD

Isaac Carr, a Top-120 prospect in 2025, has committed to Oregon. The in-state product chose Dana Altman and the Ducks over Oregon State, Stanford, Washington, Washington State and New Mexico.

BACKGROUND

The now 6-4 guard has steadily ascended out West this past few years, originally standing out with the Rose City Rebels in our West Circuit. These past few years, he’s made strides in the EYBL blossoming from an off-ball scorer to a versatile guard with a sky high basketball IQ. This summer with the NW Rotary Rebels, the pieces began to come together in a big way. In 10 games of E16 play, Carr put up 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists per game. The track record of progression has been impressive, and Carr was included in last month's "Five 2025 guard's college coaches should be buying stock in".

SOUND BITE

“Isaac is a complete player. I think early on based on his physical profile a lot of people tried to pigeon-hole him as just a shooter - don’t get me wrong, he is an elite shooter, but he’s so much more. He is a really good athlete, rebounds very well and has evolved as a playmaker.” -- Reggie Walker, formerly with the Rose City Rebels

WHAT’S NEXT?

Carr becomes just the fifth Top-150 prospect off the board in the class of 2025. The Ducks remain focused on 2024, with Ibrahima Traore, a hard-nosed big out of West Oaks (FL), and Dez Lindsey, a versatile 6-6 wing out of Florida Southwestern (JUCO), already in the fold. With four players set to exhaust their eligibility, and while reclassifications can never be counted out, it may wind up being a portal heavy cycle for the Ducks as they set the focus towards a key 2025 class. Will Riley, Jovani Ruff, Chuck Love and a few others are worth keeping tabs on early.

MY TAKE

This portion of the breakdown usually parses through the fit of the prospect and the scheme, but perhaps the best way to grasp Carr's ability and upside is that fit is relatively obsolete. He's able to fit a wide range of contexts and take on different roles based on needs. Oregon has been a constant presence on the national recruiting front under Altman, but they've also made it a steady trend of locking down plenty of the top prospects in their own backyard when they arise. No different here, as Carr has evolved into one of the PNW's elite prospects. Since late in his freshman year, he's become a favorite of mine in the national class, and largely due to his basketball smarts. He has a knack for seamlessly toggling between different roles and bringing value in the process. A high level off-ball scorer with an impressive acumen for playing in offensive construct, to go with a fluid, repeatable three point stroke. As he's matured physically and sprouted to 6-4 this past year, he's flashed more to be tapped into on the ball, specifically as a a secondary ball-handler. High level instincts, high basketball IQ, surplus of skill and more to grow into, I'm bullish on this get for the Ducks long-term.
