Jacob Cofie Commits to Virginia
September 18, 2023 by Max Feldman
Jacob Cofie, the 98th overall prospect in 2024, committed to Virginia over the likes of USC, Ohio State, Washington and more. Fresh off a visit to Charlottesville last week, Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers lock in a priority from across the country to kick off a potentially high level recruiting class.
It didn't take long for Virginia to seal the deal, offering the Seattle native late in the summer. At 6-9 with a sturdy, strong frame, Cofie brings a level of two-way steadiness mixed with upside looking ahead. Most comfortable playing out of the high post and as a roller offensively, he has strong ball skills and has begun to grow more consistent as a spot up shooter from deep given time and space. Yet, his presence is best felt on the defensive end at this stage. Heady defending the rim in rotation, slides his feet well in space and pounds the glass. Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers have had success developing players of Cofiie's mold -- versatile, physical forwards who can play multiple spots and defend. A target for multiple PNW programs throughout the process but lands in a prime fit in the ACC and becomes the first name on the board for UVA in what looks to be a potentially big-time class.
