Jake West Commits To Northwestern

The time has finally come for 2025 guard Jake West to make his decision on where he’s starting his next chapter. For the last year or two, West has become a national fan favorite and an internet sensation all at once. While trying to navigate through it all and find his footing as the leader for the Penn Charter Quakers’, the six-foot-two guard has made quite the name for himself as an elite basketball player.

With West was in the midst of narrowing down his list of schools and taking visits to various programs around the country, it was one school that really stood out to him throughout his recruiting process, the Northwestern Wildcats. “On my visit it was awesome because I got to meet the team, and I really bonded well with my future teammates. The coaching staff is also awesome, and they play a style of play that I really like, so I think they’re a really good fit. The coaching staff is amazing and it’s the highest level of basketball, this has been my dream since I was kid”, said West when mentioning what stood out to him about their program.

Northwestern made the NCAA tournament last season, and is looking to carry on the same success. West brings a fiery, coachable, natural born leader to Coach Collins and his program. Northwestern has found success in utilizing multifaceted guards to run the show, players who can execute in the half court setting, make correct reads in pick and roll play, be decisive in DHO action, move well without the ball and obtain paint touches. West fits the mold perfectly as an unselfish guard who can create advantages off the bounce, make shots on all three levels and takes pride in getting his teammates involved. The Philadelphia native is battle tested and a proven winner, who the Wildcat fans at Northwestern will love from day one.
