2026 Five-Star JJ Andrews Talks Recruitment, Development, & More

2026 five-star wing JJ Andrews is already a hot commodity on the recruiting trail for programs looking to focus on underclassmen. The top-10 sophomore prospect is looking to carry a strong grassroots season over into the school season this year. He spoke with MADE Hoops about his early recruitment, development, what's important to him in a college, and who he models his game after.

An Overview Of His Recruitment: "Ole Miss University was my first offer going into my freshmen year. Although they have had a coaching change, the new staff (Assistant Coach Wes Flanigan) has visited practice this fall & checks in with me by contacting Coach Pennington often.

University of Arkansas has sent Assistant Coach Keith Smart & Assistant Coach Michael Musselman, Jr. to visit my school, Little Rock Christian Academy, this fall. Assistant Coach Ronnie Brewer checks in on me through Coach Pennington every week.

Assistant Coach Dickey Nutt from University of Missouri stopped by one our team’s fall practices, and Head Coach Solomon Bozeman from University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff stopped in as well.

Assistant Coach Jamie Rosser from the University of Memphis stopped by a practice, and I’ve spoken to Assistant Coach Jeremy Kipness & Assistant Coach Faragi Phillips on the phone often.

Assistant Coach Brock Morris from the University of Oklahoma checks in with Coach Pennington and I speak to him weekly.

I’ve been trying to coordinate a time to make it down to LSU with Coach Jeff Moore for a couple months. He checks in often. It’s been a few weeks, but I’ve talked with Assistant Coach Larry Dixon from NC State University many times."

What He's Working On: "I just want to work on improving my overall game, and I want to work on approaching every game with a pro mindset no matter who my team is playing. I also want to work on improving my leadership skills as well."

What He's Looking For In A College: "I look for a college that will help develop my mind, body, and overall game for the pro level and utilize me to the best of my ability. I want to be pushed by my coaches, and I want to have a great relationship with them on and off of the court."

Players He Tries To Model His Game After: "Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Durant, and Paul George."
