THE LEAD
2024 guard and MADE Hoops alum Kade Unseld has committed to Western Kentucky. He chose the Hilltoppers over Bellarmine, Duquesne, and Murray State.

SOUNDBITE
“I chose WKU because of the relationships and the culture within the program. Coach Lutz is a great coach and I trust his plan for mine and WKU’s success. I have built very strong relationships with all of the coaching staff and I want to help bring championships to Bowling Green.” - Unseld
BACKGROUND
Unseld had a solid summer with MoKan Elite on the EYBL Circuit, but really turned it up a notch during Peach Jam play. There, he caught fire from the outside and knocked down 47% of his outside tries on high volume and serving as the team’s marksman. Unseld was also very good at Midwest HSA, where he made the Top-20 All-Star game. He’s one of the most talented seniors in the Bluegrass State.
WHAT'S NEXT
Unseld’s commitment gives Western Kentucky their first pledge in the 2024 recruiting class. The Hilltoppers aren’t targeting a big class, as only three players exhaust eligibility after this season, so they’ll have to see how things shake out with the current roster. Travis Perry, Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer, is viewed as the crown jewel of the class and the Hilltoppers are going all in to add him alongside Unseld.
MY TAKE
I love the fit between Unseld and Western Kentucky. He gets to stay home, be comfortable, and build a legacy in his hometown. He also fits what the Hilltoppers are trying to do on the perimeter and provides upside on both sides of the ball for them moving forward. Unseld will have the ability to make an impact from day one.
