MADE Hoops Midwest HSA Notebook Pt. 1

MADE Hoops Midwest High School Academy took place in Louisville, Kentucky this past weekend. There was a lot of talent on hand, and players that will excel at different levels of college (and pro) basketball. Over the next couple of days, we begin to empty the notebook from the last few days, and below is the first installment.

Tyran Gray, 2024: Shifty guard with elite vision. Makes every player around him better. Utilizes his body to get downhill and finish over bigger defenders. Flashes of a smooth jump shot both off the catch and off the bounce. Pest defensively that competes on every single possession
Lemontae Ratcliff, 2026: True floor general with shiftiness that allows him to get to the rim. Active hands on the defensive end. Talkative on the defensive end and made sure to get his teammates involved. Had a two-way impact on games.
Malachi Ashford, 2026: Athletic guard who showed ability to drive the lane which attracted a double team to him, then hit his teammate open from the perimeter. Ability to guard multiple positions. On ball pest on defense with his quickness. Unmatched motor and immediately makes an impact.
Briggs Harris, 2027: Shifty guard with impressive IQ for his age. Showed flashes of great finishing ability with the right and left hand. Crafty footwork to get to the basket and get a shot over bigger defenders. Flashed a high level jumpshot off the catch.
Tristan Hornbuckle, 2025: Great hands on defense. Prevented his man from getting a lay up with his quick hands. Showed ability to switch on defense with his lateral quickness. Ability to drive and kick caught the defense off guard. Impressive athlete with a great motor.
Seven Allen, 2026: Showed ability to create and attack in pick and roll. Made the three point shot efficiently both off the catch, and off the dribble. Shifty athlete that can create space and make plays for his teammates. Pest on the ball contesting every dribble.
Athens McGillis, 2026: Showed ability to finish at the rim with crafty finishes. Great distributer to attract the defender that leads to him finding the open man. Shifty footwork with a change of pace that allows him to get space and get his shot up.
Carson Burgs 2026: Active hands on the defensive end. Does a great job setting his teammates up for open shots from mid range and the perimeter. Showed ability to finish at the rim under contact with either hand.
Kameron Bowers, 2026: Shifty guard with a very quick first step to get by defenders with ease. Flashed the ability to get downhill and create open shots for teammates. Beautiful stroke from behind the three point line both off the catch and off the dribble. Quick and active hands that has a knack for interrupting passing lanes on the defensive end.
Collin Robinson, 2027: Shifty, skilled combo guard who can spread the floor out. Has a pretty and consistent jump shot. Plays hard on both ends of the floor and created opportunities on the offensive end for his teammates.
Tyler Bartley, 2027: Combo guard who did a great job creating Soave to hit his open teammates. Showed ability to drive the lane and finish at the rim. Great release off the catch from the perimeter. Great feel for the game and a tough competitor.
Damere Clark, 2026: Combo guard who showed ability to finish with either hand at the rim in transition. Excellent passer on fast breaks. Consistent jump shot from the perimeter. Hustles on both ends of the floor and is an exceptional on ball defender.
Braxton Keathley, 2027: Able to use his body to create finishes through contact. Able to get to his spots in the mid range and make shots. Has a great release from the perimeter. Kid that has a great feel for the game. Tough competitor.
Breland Morrison, 2024: Showed flashes of exceptional on ball pressure on the defensive end. Explosive athlete that can play in any offense. Moves very well without the ball. Explosive first step used to get to the basket at will and flashed ability to finish with either hand.
Dejohn Blunt, 2024: Quick first step which allows him to get by defenders and get to the rim with ease. Athletic frame that allows him to elevate and finish at the rim with either hand. Consistent jump shot from behind the arc off the catch and off the dribble. One of the more underrated kids at camp.
Deshaun Jackson, 2024: Shifty ball handler with a quick first step used to get to his spots with ease. Showed flashes of being able to make shots from behind the arc off the dribble. Athletic finisher that can finish through contact with either hand.
Jordan Lomax, 2024: Athletic guard with uncapped potential at either the 1 or 2. Finishes at the rim through contact at an efficient rate. Quick first step that allows him to get past the defender. Almost shut the gym down during the Through The Lane portion of camp with his elite jumping ability.
Jasper Johnson, 2025: Elite athleticism with a long frame. Incredible craftiness on the offensive end. Creates for all others around him, and elevates any team he’s on. Beautiful stroke off the catch and off the bounce, along with being able to change pace to get to any spot on the floor with ease. An absolute joy to watch.
Ian Daniel, 2027: Great shooter off the catch. Floor general that distributes the ball and makes those around him better. Crafty finisher around the rim. Great facilitator and a tough kid that has long-term potential.
