Previewing The NC State Championship Teams From Last Season

Despite the misleading name, plenty of teams win state championships in basketball every year. Specifically, in North Carolina, divisions run from 1A-4A. There’s one winner from each division, and there are two separate entities of schools: The NCHSAA (public) and the NCISAA (private). Today, I’ll preview every team in public and private school that won a state championship, and see how they look for this upcoming season.

NCHSAA

1A: Wilson Prep

Wilson Prep had a great run to their state championship last season. Finishing the season at 27-5 (including 18-0 in conference play), Wilson Prep stormed through the early rounds of NCHSAA. Their first three playoff rounds resulted in final scores of 72-32, 91-35, and 92-47. Their last three games were far closer, and their state championship win was by two points (65-63) over Corvian Community High School. Despite the impressive run, however, I have questions about their ability to repeat as state champions.
