SOUNDBITE

“I chose TCU because I felt like they could develop me the best and get me to the next level.” - David Punch

BACKGROUND

MADE Hoops was the first outlet to rank David Punch back in the spring, and he’s been growing as a prospect over the last two seasons. He made his mark on the EYBL Circuit this summer while playing for Drive Nation when he averaged 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds, and show improving range from the outside, where he shot 32-percent. He took an official visit to TCU back in September that really solidified the deal for the Horned Frogs.

WHAT'S NEXT

Punch joins top-150 prospects Micah Robinson and Malick Diallo in Jamie Dixon’s 2024 class. Ashton Simmons is also a Texas-based guard that should provide depth and have an opportunity to steal minutes early on. This class gives the Horned Frogs a handful of scrappy players with high floors on the defensive end of the floor. All of the committed players fit what TCU wants to do on the court, and gives their program the best recruiting class on paper in quite some time. Nicolas Codie has visited TCU and has a commitment looming in a couple of weeks, while Miles Goodman visited last month as well.

MY TAKE

Jamie Dixon has to love this pick up for the Horned Frogs. Punch prides himself on playing hard and has an incredible motor. He brings his all on the defensive end of the floor and the glass, and is able to guard multiple positions on the floor with mobility and length. Offensively, he’s efficient from the floor, particularly around the rim, and has expanded his game more and more behind the arc, becoming more comfortable in pick and pop situations and trailing threes.
