St. Rose Swingman Evan Romano is Ready For Monster Senior Season

From the time they set foot in the MHC, Kulture AAU had an impact. As one of the several future division one prospects that suited up for the NJ program this Spring and Summer, Evan Romano made the most of his time on the MADE Hoops Circuit.

“The experience was fun, the MHC was great competition and really well run, there were always college coaches at our games during the season so it was just a really good environment to play in,” Romano said.

The confidence gained over the AAU season has helped propel Romano into a bigger role at St. Rose this season. With Matt Hodge off to Villanova, someone needs to pick up the mantle of leader for this young team, a challenge that Romano is more than up for.

“The goal for us this season is just to win, get some respect for the program as a whole, and help our guys to keep developing as a group and individually and hopefully that means a number of us will end up playing at the next level,” he said.

As far as his own opportunities to play at the next level go, Buffalo and ODU have offered scholarships, and the talented combo guard visited UMBC earlier this month. With several programs recruiting him and the high school season around the corner, he has no real timetable in sight of when he will make his college commitment.

“I just want to end up at a program that’s as interested in me as I am in them, that's a big part, and I want to be able to go in and contribute right away,” he said.

The senior guard is more focused on this coming year and getting better as a player, and looks at every time he’s in a gym as a learning opportunity.

“I watch a lot of people, so I just try and take something from everyone I see even down to the high school level. If I see a player doing something I like and think I can use I just go out and try and do it and try and incorporate that into my game,” said Romano.

St. Rose will more than likely be one of the top teams in New Jersey again this season, and with Romano leading the way, are in good shape to contend for a title. Keep an eye out for the talented Garden State scorer.
