Top-20 2025 G Darius Adams Commits To UConn
September 30, 2024 by Trent Watson
Today is a great day to be a Uconn Basketball fan, as top-20 2025 guard Darius Adams announces that he’ll be joining the Huskies next season. Adams has been a player who steadily improved over the course of his high school career, and looks to go out strong with a successful season at La Lumiere for his senior season.
Adams fits right in with Coach Hurley, bringing a skilled shot maker who can do a little bit of everything on the floor and plays the right way. Adams already possesses the toughness to excel in the Big East, but with a little added strength and the coaching from Hurley and staff, the sky's the limit for what Adams can be. The 6-3 guard averaged 15 ppg for PSA Cardinals in EYBL play, and had plenty of impressive performances throughout the summer at some notable events and camps, like Pangos All-American Camp and NBPA Top 100 Camp where he averaged 17.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 3.7 assists and left with All-Star honors.
Adams’ shot making and shot creation are his calling cards up to this point. A creative and dynamic scorer who has added savvy and craft to his skill set when playing off the bounce. He’s showcased growth and added confidence when handling the rock under heavy ball pressure and physicality, when looking to create for others. This is helpful to Coach Hurley’s system because most of his guards throughout his successful seasons have been interchangeable, and able to affect the game in multiple ways. The most impactful keys that likely led to the mutual interest from both parties are Coach Hurley’s ability to develop talent and hold players accountable, while Adams also possesses character qualities that Hurley and staff appreciate in young prospects, such as being coachable, open-minded and an elite competitor. With Adams being the first 2025 recruit to commit to Storrs and Coach Hurley, look for the Huskies to round out their recruiting class over the course of these next few months.
