West Circuit Preview: UPLAY West

And just like that, Year X of the Winter Circuit is around the corner. Here, I'll be taking an early look at the Red League teams out West. Today, we've got UPLAY West.

UPLAY West is inching towards their first winter in the West Circuit, and come in with high hopes and a number of the top prospects in western Canada. Connor Macllelan is expected to take a big step forward for this group — “He's surprised us this fall. Came in a bit under the radar, but he's got bounce and shoots it well. Ton of upside!” Coach Bains said.

Number of different potential guys, but Amare Madahar is a potential X-factor for this group. Coach Bains said, “He's hard-nosed and brings a ton of different things to the table for us.”

UPLAY West will lean heavily on the productivity of Marvin Reyes. Steady and mature in his approach, he’ll be tough to keep off the floor. "He scored 50 points in a game earlier this year at West Canada Academy, he's super dynamic. He keeps getting better, too" Coach Bains said.

As far as looking ahead long-term, we’ll be keeping close tabs on Adrian McKenzie. The young wing is stocked with intriguing upside as he continues to put the pieces together.

UPLAY West is built on cohesiveness. Coach said,: “They play very well together. We've got good size for a team this age and have a ton of talent, but it's their chemistry and unselfishness that's impressed the most."
