Utah State lands intriguing long-term 2025 wing Adlan Elamin

We've entered the time of year where seniors are beginning to trickle off the board after their official visits and the latest hails from Paul VI Catholic/Team Takeover with Adlan Elamin as he announced his commitment to Utah State this afternoon. Elamin has always been one of the more intriguing long-term prospects in the talented DMV area given his size at 6-foot-9, his 7-foot wingspan and his long-range shooting ability.

Elamin chose the Aggies over Iowa and VCU. While he had scheduled visits with both of the other contending programs for later this month, he decided after his visit at Utah State, he knew it was the place for him.
"The night I spent with the team was the moment I knew it this was the best place for me," Elamin told MADE Hoops. "My family and I had dinner at Coach Calhoun's house along with the rest of the staff. It was a really good time and I had my flight in the morning, but I didn't want to leave. I just felt the family vibe about it all and it felt like I was at home."
Elamin fits the archetype that Calhoun has prioritized. He brings a shot-making presence that provides space on the floor and a budding skill set as a playmaker that could be tapped into as he gains confidence throughout his career.
"Coach Calhoun likes versatile wings that can make plays both on and off the ball and that's what they're looking for. That's what I am. They plan to use me by letting me use my tools to my advantage. Things like my jump shot, playmaking abilities and my versatility on defense."
Elamin's value on the defensive end could be his calling card. As he gets quicker from a lateral standpoint, he'll be able to guard up to four positions at the college level. That 7-foot wingspan comes in handy not only in altering shots around the rim, but also during closeouts on shooters from outside.
"They plan on helping me focus a lot on my body and as I progress with the staff, I think they'll help me get to where I need to be in terms of having more strength within my game."
Adding mass to his frame will be a process, but adding the necessary strength would unlock even more value to his stock over time. In fact, putting on weight and strength is probably the number one focus for Elamin as he makes the transition to college.
Since transferring to PVI for his junior season, there has been obvious progression in his efficiency as a shooter. Some of that could be credited to sharing the floor with a wealth of talent, but it's also a result of him learning where his shots come from in the flow of their offense. Elamin's confidence has also grown tremendously since making the switch to play under head coach Glenn Farello.
"I think the coaching and preparation that I've received from Paul VI couldn't have prepared me better for the next level. Coach Farello has seen it all and he knows what it takes to develop played to be prepared for the next level so I am grateful to be coaches by him and go against so much talent every day in practice."
Elamin will be a staple to this year's Panthers team and expected to contribute in multiple ways after losing five seniors to high-major programs.
Last season he maintained excellent shooting numbers by converting 52.2 percent from the field and finished shooting over 36 percent from deep.
