Isaiah Stewart talks the latest with his recruitment

One of the best big men in the class of 2019 Isaiah Stewart has made his mark on the national scene at the La Lumiere School, in Indiana. He spoke to MADE Hoops on the latest from his high school season and recruitment.

Q: How has the transition been at your new school in La Lumiere?

A: The transition to La Lumiere has been good. It is as great as I thought as it would be so it was a smooth transition for me.

Q: What have you added to your game since getting there?

A: I have added more to my face up game and mid-range game. I have also gotten stronger and quicker.

Q: How was the Michigan State game? What is it like to receive an offer from them?

A: The Michigan State game was great. The fans are die hard Spartans and I can tell they love and support their basketball team. They have a real family like atmosphere over there. To receive an offer from them means a lot. They are known for having a pretty good history of guys who played my position and flourished.

Q: When are you planning on cutting down your list and to how many?

A: I am just focusing on the high school season right now. After that, I’ll start looking more into cutting my list. Ideally, I would like to cut it down to around 10 schools.

Q: What schools have been recruiting you the hardest?

A: Many schools have been recruiting me hard. Syracuse, Duke, Georgetown, Purdue, Michigan State, Texas, Xavier, Virginia, Notre Dame, Michigan, Kansas, Indiana and others have been recruiting me.

Q: Syracuse is one of the first high major schools to offer you. What do you like about them?

A: The first thing that comes to mind is the dome. It has a crazy atmosphere and the fans are crazy about basketball. Coach Boehiem is a Hall of Fame coach and the rest of the coaching staff is great. I have developed a good relationship with coach Gerry McNamara.

Q: Duke offered you prior to the high school season. What do you like about them?

A: It’s a brotherhood over there and Coach K is a Hall of Fame coach as well. They are one of the best programs in the country every year and have a great coaching staff. Coach Scheyer and I have a good relationship and talk on the regular.

Q: Coach Patrick Ewing and Georgetown have been active with your recruitment. What is intriguing about the Hoyas?

A: Georgetown was the place to go back in the day if you were playing my position. They have been struggling but Coach Ewing came in and is making a change and turning the program around. They’re doing pretty good this year. With him being a head coach who played the same position I do in the NBA is good. He knows what he is doing in terms of development with players at my position.
