Q: You are approaching the New York state scoring record. How do you feel about approaching this milestone?
A: It’s a great feeling to be approaching an accomplishment that means so much in New York. It came a lot faster than expected but I’m really excited to have the chance to break it. My teammates and coaches have done a great job of trusting me and helping me get here. Without them and without winning games, this would mean nothing.
Q: You received an offer from Michigan. What did Coach John Beilein say to you and what do you like about the Wolverines?
A: Coach [John] Beilein told me I fit their style of play perfectly and can help them win games. Michigan is a great place with a lot of winning tradition and great history. I’m blessed to have an opportunity to play there.
Q: How did your visit to Penn State go? They have been very active in your recruitment. What is the relationship like there?
A: I have a great relationship with Penn State. Coach Pat Chambers and the rest of the staff have done a great job of making me feel wanted and I really enjoyed spending time with them. They are doing a great job of making that program something special.
Q: What schools would you say have been the most active in your recruitment?
A: I’m hearing a lot from Michigan, Boston College, Penn State, Duke, Villanova, Rutgers, Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State and others. I’ve built a lot of great relationships with a lot of great schools.
Q: What schools are showing heavy interest but have yet to offer?
A: I’m starting to hear a lot from USC, Ohio State, Duke, Villanova, and Notre Dame. These schools have yet to offer me, but are building great relationships with me. They all want me to get to campus and come watch a game.
Q: What is the timeline with cutting down your list?
A: I would like to get this done before my senior basketball season. I don’t have any specific date to commit or cut down my list. I know I’ll prefer to have it done before my senior season so I can focus on winning.
Q: What goals do you have heading into the rest of the season?
A: I would love to win our league and make a run at a state championship. We’re a young team who loves to win and does what it takes to do so. We’d like to avenge the ending to our season last year and finish the year strong!
