Sunday closed the weekend with the same edge and intensity that defined Session 3 of the Girls East Winter Circuit. With teams continuing to sort out positioning heading toward the Circuit Championship, the 7th grade division delivered meaningful matchups and performances that made a difference in the standings.
DC Blue Devils Defense Key Against Boo Williams
DC Blue Devils and Boo Williams played a competitive, physical game that stayed close throughout. The Blue Devils set the tone early with an aggressive full-court press, forcing early turnovers and grabbing an initial lead. That defensive pressure allowed them to control tempo without ever fully pulling away.
Offensively, DC’s scoring balance stood out. Scoring came from multiple spots, with Margaret Kauffman leading the way through steady production and a major paint presence. Boo Williams stayed within reach behind the efforts of Aleiyah Tooley, who answered runs and kept the pressure on. Late in the game, the DC Blue Devils tightened up defensively and executed down the stretch to close out the close win, 58-52.
MD23 Elite Downs Boo Williams
MD23 Elite delivered one of Sunday’s strongest performances, earning a statement win, 57-38. They came out hot from the opening tip and never looked back, continuing to dominate on both ends of the floor. Chisara Ezeocha led the charge, consistently scoring and creating early momentum. What makes MD23 Elite tough to guard is their depth, as multiple players can score and step up when needed. That balance, paired with confidence and execution, makes them a difficult matchup moving forward. Their play throughout the weekend made it clear they came ready to compete and make a statement as they continue to climb within the division.
Team Takeover Jr. EYBL Edges Fairfax Stars 2031
Team Takeover Jr. EYBL and Fairfax Stars 2031 battled in a tight game from start to finis, with TTO winning, 43-30. Once Takeover took the lead, they held control for the remainder of the contest. Fairfax Stars continued to fight behind Emma Garrett and Siena Carcilo, but Team Takeover’s balance proved decisive. Aubrey Anderson once again stood out with consistent production, continuing her strong play throughout the circuit.
Paint Beast: Margaret Kauffman, DC Blue Devils
Kauffman controlled the paint with her physicality and activity. Her length and motor made her a force on the glass, while her touch and fluidity allowed her to score around the basket and attack off the dribble. Defensively, she made scoring in the paint difficult with her presence and timing.
Ms. Consistency: Chisara Ezeocha, MD23 Elite
Ezeocha remained a steady scoring presence, delivering production in every session. She consistently carried the offensive load and stepped up in key moments, showing leadership and confidence that continue to separate her within the division.
Ms. Potential: Giana Byard, Philly Rise
Byard continued to show why her upside stands out. She attacked off the bounce, scored inside, rebounded well, and defended multiple positions with her lateral quickness. As her game continues to develop, she remains a name to watch closely.
