2025 DMV Live: 17U Sunday Storylines

BALTIMORE, MD – Michigan Unified MHC 17U knew that its trip to MADE Hoops DMV Live would be a grind, as the team made its journey to the East Coast to play five games with just six players.

In the end, they nearly made it through unscathed, dropping their finale on Sunday to finish at 4-1 on the weekend.

“This is our second year with MADE Hoops, so we knew what to expect coming out here,” Michigan Unified coach JT Jackson said. “We want the toughest competition and we want to play the tougher guys. We love to come out here and compete, and that’s what we got this weekend. We got five games that showed us we can actually compete on this level. We’ve shorthanded and missing two guys, but playing with six this weekend our guys actually got a chance to showcase what they can do. So, it’s an uphill battle for us coming back in July; we’ll be prepared, though.”

Michigan Unified opened DMV Live with an 88-76 win over LA Elit3 (PA) on Friday. They started Saturday by running past Philly Pride 302 MHC 66-35 behind 28 points from 2026 forward Jimmy Miller, and followed that with a 71-59 victory over Expressions Premier Elite MHC (MA) Saturday night where 2026 guard CJ Hearn finished with 30 points.

On Sunday, they needed a bucket from Miller at the buzzer to pick up a 75-73 buzzer-beating win over Kips Bay MHC (NY), and the lack of subs finally caught up with them in a  54-43 to NJ Roadrunners.

Overall, Jackson was pleased with the effort his shorthanded crew managed.

“Jimmy Miller, he had a coming out party the other night and scored 28 and he’s been playing great all weekend for us,” he said. “CJ Hearn, he’s put 30 in a few times this weekend – he shoots the ball extremely well. Jovaan Daniels – our lead guard – he played very well for us down the stretch. Tyree Acuff, he just came back and joined the team, he was gone a few weeks. But he gave us everything we needed being that utility guy this weekend, keeping possessions alive, cleaning up the glass for us and making some big layups down the stretch. My kid Darnell Murphy hit some big shots and controlled the pace of the game for us. We played with an unsigned senior Caden Neves, who’s actually going to make his college decision real soon in the next few weeks. So with the six guys we brought down here I was kind of satisfied with how we played. We fell short in that last game, but we’ll bounce back.”

TTO Showcase 2025 Forward Bryce Adams

 TTO Showcase Keeps Rolling

Through the first few MADE Hoops Circuit events, Team Takeover Showcase established itself as a definite contender for the 17U Division crown.

They only solidified that notion with another stellar week, going 5-0 in Baltimore to remain undefeated in MHC play.
After opening with a tough 65-62 win over Jet Academy on Friday, TTO Showcase picked up MHC wins over Canada Elite (67-42), Ball By Design (59-55), Maryland Movement (69-59) and Ne6 Revolt (62-25).

Coach Paul D’Anna’s squad has thrived with a deep lineup that doesn’t lean on an individual star, but instead has multiple pieces who have provided consistent production this spring. 2025 guards Hayden Roberts and Micah Samuels and 2026 guards Colby Murphy and Angel Long were solid again, intriguing 2026 wing Brian McMahon flashed his versatility, and uncommitted bigs Bryce Adams and Simon Ndikumana impacted both ends of the floor.

The “Wright” Piece For Jersey Force

Jersey Force continued to benefit from new addition Stephon “Munchie” Ashley-Wright, finishing 5-0 at DMV Live after picking up  a thrilling 55-54 win over Jet Academy (Ga.) on Sunday.

Ashley-Wright finished with a team-high 15 points in the win.

“It was pretty cool just coming here, knowing I wanted to win and just coming back from my last weekend,” he said. “Just coming in focused, really – I just wanted it.”

The younger brother of former Baylor and incoming BYU guard Robert Wright III, Ashley-Wright showcased a nice balance of scoring and distributing all weekend.

“I feel like I can really make my teammates better, for real, and get mine at the same time,” he said. “So it just looks good all-around.”
