2026 Girls Spring Live: Saturday Storylines and Superlatives

Chozen Lewis, Virginia Valkyrie 17U

Saturday marked the first full day of action at the MADE Hoops Girls Spring Live, with teams hitting the court for a full slate of games to build on the excitement of the opening night. College coaches had another opportunity to evaluate the talent on display.

Here’s a look at the Storylines and Superlatives from Saturday:

 Saturday Storylines

 IMG 16’s Keep Rolling

IMG Academy (FL) 16U squad opened its Live Period trip to Philly with a dominant win Friday, and added two more victories to their ledger on Saturday.

Led by another pair of strong outing from 2028 guard Sol Rodriguez (21 points) and 2029 guard Olivia Whitt (18), IMG downed Sizzle MHC 49-37 in their first game Saturday. They followed that with a 69-46 victory over Impact Academy where 2029 forward Fuyubi Langendorf dropped 27 and Whitt added 25. IMG has found the opponent that can slow it down yet, and will look to remain unbeaten as they close the weekend Sunday morning.

Butler Heat Elite 17U Looks Dominant

Another team that has been running through the competition this weekend is Butler Heat Elite 17U from Massachusetts.

Butler Heat Elite improved to 3-0 with one-sided wins over FCA Legacy (65-17) and B-Elite Lady Premier (52-20).

The trio of 2026 Ashya Dingle, 2026 Jaizzy Santiago and 2028 Tajeeya Sterling have led the way for Butler Heat Elite, whis will look to finish undefeated as they face off against DB Elite on Sunday morning.

 BCRI MHC 17U Bounces Back

After dropping their opener on Friday night, Basketball Club of Rhode Island MHC responded with a pair of victories on Saturday, downing DB Elite 51-21 in the morning and picking up a 71-61 win over CT Royalty.

Shea Kalin and Zaida Aponte led the way offensively as BCRI pulled away in the second half against CT Royalty, while Delaney Bonneau, Zoey Thorp and Brooklyn Russillo also had strong outings.

Philly Legacy 8th Grade Stays Unbeaten

One squad that didnt have to travel far for this weekend’s event is Philly Legacy 2030, and they’ve indeed looked right at home in their own backyard.

Philly Legacy picked up victories over East Coast Prep (51-20) and The System (58-48) to improve to 3-0 this weekend. They’ll look to close things out at 3 pm against Team Jenkins.

 Saturday Superlatives

The Bucket Getter – Olivia Witt, 2029 Guard, IMG Academy 16U

The 5-foot-10 Witt dropped 20 in IMG’s opening win on Friday and stayed hot on Saturday. She went for 18 in her team’s win over Sizzle, and dropped 25 in a victory over Impact Academy. Witt is a threat from any spot on the floor, and was efficient scoring in transition, in the post, from mid-range and from beyond the 3-point line. She has a nice shooting stroke and doesn’t need a lot of time or space to get a shot off once her feet are set. Witt is a very intriguing 2029 prospect who will be worth keeping tabs on.

The Closer – Shea Kalin, 2027 Guard, BRCI 17U

Kalin started slow offensively but stepped up when she needed to, scoring 14 of her game-high 19 points in the second half of a 71-61 win over CT Royalty. After making five 3-pointers in her first game on Friday, Kalin had to use a different approach on Saturday. Her jumper wasn’t falling, but she excelled at driving into the lane and finishing through contact – on three separate times she scored while drawing a foul – or kicking to open teammates. Kalin’s ability to create for herself and others when her team needed a spark earned her a spot on Day 2’s standouts.

The Playmaker – Chozen Lewis, 2027 Guard, Virginia Valkyrie 17U

Lewis was instrumental in Virginia Valkyrie’s 35-28 win over BCRI Select. With an impressive blend of speed and court vision, Lewis is a danger in the open court. She has a quick first step that allows her to beat defenders off the dribble, and also does a nice job of changing directions at top speed. The threat of her attacking kept defenders honest and made her a consistent matchup problem. Her ability to push the pace off a missed shot or turnover makes her a true floor general for her team.
