East Session 1: 2027 Wings

Mazari Browne  Team Melo MD23

The Team Melo MD23 wing is loaded with long-term indicators. Fluid-mover with shot-making versatility, feathery touch from extended range and playmaking chops. Perhaps the breakout of session one, the long-term ceiling is sky high given his heightened skill level, feel for the game and enticing early shooting profile. Team Melo MD23 has potentially a big time prospect brewing in Mazari Browne.

Gavin White  City Rocks

Arguably the most impressive two-way performer from session one, White’s motor and athletic profile were hard to miss in Hampton. A work-man’s approach with a Swiss Army knife skillset as a grab & go slasher, two-way playmaker and slithery finisher as a roll man. Exceedingly productive on the glass, full of intriguing intangibles and a stalwart defending the rim, the NY native is going to be a fascinating track out east.

Troy Tomlin  Team Takeover

On a guard laden TTO roster, 6-2 wing athlete Troy Tomlin popped with his athletic profile and catch & shoot fluidity. Played above the rim, attacked through the chest of shot blockers, has a quick first step and brought aggression on both ends. Tomlin showed strong feel cutting off the myriad of TTO drivers and flew around on the defensive end. A playmaker defending at the point of attack and a weapon getting out in transition, Tomlin has the tools to be one of the region’s elite wings and is certainly a ceiling raiser for the reigning champs.

Baba Oladotun  Team Durant

Fresh off a session one that put his enticing upside on full display, Oladotun received his first offer from Bryant. The Team Durant wing is evidently reaping the benefits of playing up an age group last winter while still being one of the youngest headliners in 2022. At 6-6, Oladotun displayed growth as a creator in the pick & roll and out of the mid-post — playing with more pace, creating greater separation and using his length as a playmaker over the top of defenses. Early stages physically, but the blend of tools and budding skill make him one of the more intriguing long-term prospects on the East coast.

Cahron Wheeler  Team Melo MD23

Rim pressure, a force getting downhill, versatility on the defensive end and a functional handle to unlock his physical tools. Plus athlete, free throw line production and a smooth mid-range scoring attack. A well-built 6-5 with ample confidence, Wheeler looks like one of the circuit’s headliners and will be the trigger man for a Team Melo MD23 group that should improve as the winter rolls on.

Marquis Newson  DPS

The 2027 DPS do-it-all wing showed big flashes through both days. A fluid mover with length, explosiveness and elite end-to-end speed. Defends multiple spots, cleans the glass to spark the break going the other way and finishes with flexibility at the cup. An under the radar development to monitor as the circuit rolls on.

Andrew Kretkowski  New York Rens

An intriguing blend of positional size, skill and feel for the game, Kretkowski popped as an offensive fulcrum for Rens. Strong vision and playmaking instincts attacking downhill at 6-6. As a multi-faceted wing or as an outlet in the pick & roll, Kretkowski put pressure on defenses and made the right decision more times than not. Alongside Jacob Canton, Kretkowski’s early foundation as a pass, dribble, shoot threat makes Rens a tough matchup out East.

Pat Otey  Expressions Elite

Otey, as he did last winter, impressed and produced at a high volume when he was on the floor after battling some nagging injuries through the weekend. A dynamic mid-range scorer at 6-4 with the functional strength to create space and shed contact to get to his spots. Expressions Elite once again looks like a well oiled machine, and Otey will be leaned upon heavily as a scorer and trigger man in their heavy movement setting.

Vasaun Harper  NJ Legacy

Legacy struggled to stack wins and lost a few close ones, but Vasaun Harper popped as a multi-level scorer alongside the energetic Anthony Gonzalez. Well-built physically and rugged getting to the rim, Harper was highly productive once he got a defender on his hip. Positional rebounder, grab & go threat and plays with consistent assertiveness offensively.

Zane Sikaneta  UPLAY

On a UPLAY group littered length and athleticism, 2027 wing Zane Sikaneta stood out. 6-4 lefty with an elevated jumper and strong instincts scoring from the intermediate. A plus playmaker and an advanced closeout creator with fluidity getting to his pull up. Lot to like skill-wise and the Canadian wing looks to just be coming into his own.

Greyson Pierce  Expressions Elite

The Expressions big wing will be an X-Factor for a group looking to retain the Red Lea8ue title, and got off to a strong start in Hampton. Smooth 6-6 wing with a fluid outside stroke and decisiveness attacking on the offensive end. Bouncy swingman with a mature approach and a high skill level.

Dinho Jeune  CB Prospects UPLAY

The toolsy Canadian wing popped as one of the more fascinating names to track coming out of Hampton. Exceedingly long with wiry strength and natural athleticism, Jeune subtle skill and flashes of offensive creation stood out. Came away very intrigued to track the development of the Montreal native, as his flashes suggested a big time ceiling.

Jordan Powell  Boo Williams

As mentioned on Callen Morrison, Boo Williams made some noise this weekend and Jordan Powell was an impactful piece. A long, ancillary guard with fluid movement skills and a strong feel off the ball. Soft touch shooter with quick decision-making attacking tilted defenses, a highly valuable trait given the variety of different faces that put pressure on defenses. If Boo Williams sustains the session one momentum, Powell’s impact will be key.

Joshua Rivera PSA Cardinals

The best basketball is certainly ahead for PSA’s wiry wing. One of the younger listed standouts, Rivera was a difference-maker as PSA tried to find their groove in Hampton. A smooth shooter with clear-cut physical upside at 6-4, Rivera played with extreme confidence and stepped up in some big late-game moments. Another intriguing name to monitor on a PSA roster stockpiled with talent.

Mason Collins  TSF

The athletes across the board for TSF impressed, and Collins early foundation showed significant promise. Likely the youngest 2027 prospect mentioned, the long and wiry 6-3 wing has plus ball skills and handled with confidence. Active, versatile, has a budding feel for the game and ample physical upside. Long ways away from where he can be, but the framework as a multi-tooled wing is certainly there.

Karon Watlington  Team United

Team United quietly went undefeated in session one, and Watlington’s long-term appeal leapt out. Early stages physically, but there’s plenty to be excited about as the wiry wing grows into his frame. Functional ball handler, full of length and showed strong instincts defending in passing lanes. Gibson and Adams lead the charge offensively, but Watlington showed a variety of long-term indicators that could prove to be a ceiling raiser down the line.

Talib Martin  New Heights

A long limbed athlete with a strong motor, Martin backed some early buzz with a variety of hustle play productivity and displayed his raw tools. Quick off the floor, closes gaps quickly on the defensive end and blends his length with fluid movement skills to slide up and down the lineup on the defensive end.
