After Breakout Junior Campaign, “Bruiser” Edwards is Ready for MADE Hoops Circuit

Six-foot 2027 guard Evan “Bruiser” Edwards firmly established himself this season as a star for Georgetown Prep (MD), winning an Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) championship and earning All-IAC honors.

Now playing with Blue Devils Global Squad MHC (MD), he’s looking to maximize his development and exposure throughout the grassroots season.

“Coming off a pretty good sophomore year with five D1 seniors, stepping into a new role wasn’t easy,” he said. “Throughout the season I had to grow up fast, and be able to lead my teammates to a title. Some games my teammates needed me to put the ball in the hoop, and there were times my teammates were going off and I just had to get them the ball.”

After averaging 19 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds per game, it’s safe to say he had a successful season, but there is still room for growth. The crafty, high IQ point guard creates advantages off the bounce at a high rate, and makes the right reads when reaching the second level.

Those who know Bruiser, know that he’s been a gym rat his whole life. He comes from a basketball family.  His father Mark Edwards has playing and coaching experience, while his older brother Dylan Edwards is an alumnus of South Kent (CT) and played Division II basketball.

“Dyl has a huge impact on everything around my game today,” he said. “Watching and competing against him when I was younger pushed me beyond my limits. Even now being a little bigger and stronger than I was when I was little, he still tries to push me and force me into discomfort in workouts so I think it’s a useful advantage for me. My brother made it to the next level where I’m trying to go, so I make sure to take advantage of that even when it’s not easy.”

Heading into his senior season, he’s looking to continue sharpening his tools, and improving his conditioning. He looks forward to being a part of the MADE Hoops Circuit, and making a name for himself.

“I’m really just focused on sharpening all aspects of my game daily,” said Edwards.“ Other than that, just to continue to get better athletically and get stronger. The culture of MADE Hoops and the opportunities they create for hoopers is insane. I played MADE Hoops in middle school, and remember seeing players who are now playing in March Madness.”

So far, Edwards has made a name for himself in the DMV area, amongst his peers, media personnel and local universities.

Edwards says he’s seen interest from Navy, Mount St. Mary’s, American, and recently visited St. Joe’s for a game during conference play.

Patriot League, NEC, Ivy League, & NE10 level schools should be heavily involved.
