The second day of the 2025 Ryse Williams Pac Shores event delivered a noticeable jump in intensity, with teams settling in after Monday’s opener and playing with sharper pace and purpose. Tuesday’s matchups featured wild momentum swings, defensive adjustments that reshaped games, and several standout performances that shifted early narratives for participating programs. From pressing systems creating chaos to guards taking over late, Day 2 brought a different flavor to the event and set the stage for an intriguing back half of the week.
Redondo’s Full-Court Pressure Turns Close Start Into Blowout Win
Redondo Union (CA) broke the game wide open with a dominant second quarter after Laguna Hills (CA) managed to stay within seven through the first eight minutes. Once the Seahawks tightened up their full-court pressure—flying around for steals, deflections, and securing every defensive rebound—the game flipped instantly, as they outscored the Hawks 25–8 in the second to take a 24-point halftime lead. The onslaught only intensified after the break, with Redondo overwhelming Laguna Hills 37–11 in the third quarter to push the margin to 50 entering the fourth. Five Seahawks finished in double figures, led by 2026 PG Chace Holley (20 points), 2026 G SJ Madison (17 points), 2026 G Devin Wright (12 points), 2026 F Kaiden Wilson (12 points), and 2027 G Chris Sanders (10 points). The ball movement, pace, and defensive havoc never slowed, as Redondo turned a competitive opening quarter into a runaway win.
Bailey, Anderson, Kyman Power Eagles Past Loyola
Santa Margarita (CA) controlled the game from the opening tip, building a four-point lead after the first quarter and stretching it to 13 by halftime, while Loyola (CA) stayed competitive but never found the surge needed to flip momentum. The Cubs’ strongest push came in the third behind 2026 G Jack Jeffrey, yet the Eagles responded with poise and tightened up defensively in the fourth as Loyola’s offense began to fade. 2026 G Kaiden Bailey (18 points, 4 threes) was steady throughout and set the tone, while 2026 WSU signee Brayden Kyman (15 points) and 2026 Oregon State signee Drew Anderson (17 points after a scoreless first quarter) provided major lifts. Loyola had four players in double figures, led by 2027 G Mattai Carter (16 points), followed by 2026 G Jack Jeffrey (11 points), 2026 G Quincy Watson (10 points), and 2027 F Randall Sanders (10 points). But Santa Margarita’s consistency and late-game defense allowed them to stay in control and finish off a solid win over a tested Mission League opponent.
Second-Half Surge Lifts Windward Wildcats Over Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits
Long Beach Poly (CA) controlled much of the first half behind hot three-point shooting from 2026 G Julian Calderone and strong interior play from 2025 Yale-bound F/C Jonas Oware and 2028 W Jakobi Oware, carrying a seven-point lead into halftime. But the game flipped after the break, as Windward (CA) ramped up its ball pressure, forced a wave of turnovers, and repeatedly turned those mistakes into transition points. That defensive shift sparked a 15-point second-half advantage for the Wildcats, who executed cleanly down the stretch to secure the win. 2027 W Davey Harris (24 points) continued his hot scoring stretch and made it look effortless without even hitting a three, while 2027 G Jordan Hampton (20 points) and 2029 G Tyler Yeargin (11 points) also delivered key offensive production. Despite Oware’s 18 points, Calderone’s 12 with four threes, and Jakobi Oware’s 10, Poly couldn’t overcome the turnover swing that defined the second half.
Harvard-Westlake Holds Off La Mirada to Win Defensive Battle
Harvard-Westlake set the tone defensively from the opening tip, holding La Mirada to just five total scorers and only two players in double figures while building a 29–20 halftime lead. The Wolverines’ first-half offense was fueled by 2026 G Joe Sterling, 2027 G Cole Holden, and 2027 G Pierce Thompson, who each scored seven before the break, while 2027 G Gene Roebuck kept La Mirada afloat with seven of his own. The Matadors tightened up significantly in the second half—disrupting Harvard-Westlake’s half-court rhythm, rebounding better, and cutting down on fouls—playing the Wolverines completely even after halftime. Despite that improved execution, La Mirada could never put together the run needed to erase the early deficit, as Harvard-Westlake consistently came up with the key stop or basket to maintain control. Holden led the Wolverines with 15 points and three threes, Thompson added 13, and Sterling finished with 10, while Roebuck poured in 19 and Jordyn Houston added 13 for the Matadors.
