Skyler Ellis, Crown Making MHC Debut with Championship Aspirations

Following a breakout junior season at Half Hollow Hills East (NY) that generated significant buzz and new opportunities, 2027 guard Skyler Ellis decided to join the Nike EYBL Scholastic Conference and attend the Christ School (NC). We recently caught up with the Long Island native while he was home to discuss his focus for the next few months.

How are you feeling headed into the offseason and what parts of your game are you looking to improve?

“I feel very optimistic heading into this offseason. I’m looking forward to getting out there with this new group of guys. This AAU season, I’m looking to improve on being a better playmaker for my teammates, and to continue to improve my overall game everyday.”

Are you excited about playing MHC this year? What kind of ceiling does your Crown team have?

“Yeah, I’m really excited to play MHC this year. MADE Hoops creates a great environment for players to compete and showcase their skill sets. If our team has a ceiling, it is extremely high. We have talented players at every position, and a solid coaching staff. Our team chemistry is really coming together.”

Do you have any goals for you and the team?

“Our goal as a team is to win the MHC Championship. We are a new team on the circuit, and it’s important to us that we successfully represent Crown’s brand of basketball on the MHC.”

Coach Rossi and you seem to hit it off already. How’s your relationship and what are some things you’ve already learned from him so far?

“Coach and I have a great relationship. He’s a great person to have in your corner, and to have him as a coach is truly a blessing. He really emphasizes playing what you see on the court and being natural, so that’s what he’s been instilling in all of us.”

You recently added a new offer from (Division II) Molloy. What other schools are you talking to and what are some of the things you are looking for in a program at the next level?

“I’ve been talking to a few schools in the Ivy League, CAA, MAC, OVC, and Big South. What I’m most looking forward to in a program at the next level is a program that puts a strong emphasis on the continuous development of the student-athlete, a program that prepares its players for the next level on and off the court.”
