The 3SSB Circuit is through two sessions of play and the Washington Warriors sit in fourth place with an impressive 7-1 record. This comes to no surprise as the program has been a consistent winning presence since it joined the circuit a few years back. Featuring players from the DMV and North Carolina, the Warriors have put themselves in a good spot heading into the last two sessions, which will be in July. A big reason for their success though, has been the point guard at the helm in Darius Bivins.

The ring senior spent his junior season at Bishop O’Connell proving himself in the WCAC, which many would argue as a top one or two high school conference in the country. He took the momentum he established and translated it to the 3SSB Circuit where he leads in both assists per game (7.5) and steals per game (3.4).
“I just feel like all the work that I put in is starting to show,” Bivins told MADE Hoops. “The high school season didn’t end the way that I wanted to so I used that as motivation to make a statement playing on the Adidas circuit. I feel like I’m playing well. The one area I know I need to be better at is just shooting the three-ball more consistently.”
To go with his circuit-leading assists and steals per game, Bivins is also scoring 15.5 points per contest. As he alluded to above, improving his current 33.3 percent from beyond the arc will be a focus moving forward, but when you realize he’s converting on over 50 percent of his overall field goal attempts and stands at 86.2 percent from the free-throw line (25/29), there’s no reason not to believe in him finding his groove.
“I think going forward it’s just all mental. Approaching every game the same way and same mindset. We really should be 8-0, but we’re 7-1 and that one loss eats at me because if I would’ve had my mindset heading into that one game, we would’ve won.”
The only blemish on their record occurred when they played Team Loaded South following a big win over Wildcat Select. Bivins went on to explain that he and his team were riding a bit of a high after that victory and took their foot off the gas a bit, which ended up being a learning lesson for the future.
Still, I’m not sure that we’ve seen Bivins play a better brand of basketball than he is right now.
“I think it’s just me going out there and having fun. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself last season and caught myself caring about what other people thought of me. My approach this year is just me versus me. Basketball isn’t life or death. It’s supposed to be fun while you’re playing it and that’s what I’m doing. I work too hard to go out and hate it or put unnecessary pressure on myself. Plus, I feel like I play my best when I’m really just out there relaxed and having fun.”
Bivins’ enjoyment on the court has resulted in a plethora of offers coming his way in the last few weeks.
“Texas Tech offered me last Monday and it seemed like that sparked a few others because I got others throughout the week. It was a great feeling to know that I’m doing something right and how many schools thought the same.”
To be exact, Bivins racked up seven offers in just four days. Other than Texas Tech, programs such as Creighton, LaSalle, Memphis, Princeton, Seton Hall and Washington State all joined the sweepstakes.
“I would say the talks I’ve had with Texas Tech have been really good. You know, whenever we get on the phone they make it clear that they want me. My parents are originally from Texas, so there’s that connection to the area. Plus, they’re known for their small guards. Elijah Hawkins was killing there this year and that’s what they keep preaching to me. The coach still loves small guards and allows them to play their game as long as it fits their system. I’m in the process of setting up an official visit there for a football game, so that’ll be fun.”
Other than the Red Raiders, one of the Big East programs is standing out early to Bivins.
“I’ve been having great talks with Coach Rasheen [Davis]. He’s been giving me a lot of advice on, you know, being a point guard and just winning at a high level. The other conversation that stood out to me was when coach Penny Hardaway called me. He just told me that everyone says I’m a true point guard and that I’m about winning and that speaks national championship. Hearing that from a guy like that was just a really cool feeling. He told me a lot of people are talking about me right now, but it’s all good things.”
Bivins is also in the process of setting up an official visit with Rutgers for the fall and also will look into setting up visits with George Washington, Iowa and VCU.
Bivins is well aware of the talk surrounding his game, but also knows the areas of improvement that he needs to address. Adding some mass to his frame will be a focus moving forward and Bivins says he has plans in place with his diet to begin that process now that there’s a slight break in his schedule.
Bivins’ pace, skill and mature approach to the game as a point guard has plenty of high-major programs willing to overlook the slightness in frame for the time being. Even if it means addressing that area once he gets onto their campus and thrown into the strength and conditioning program to make up for that lost time.
Similar to what folks say about prospects with rare size, the same can be said about the IQ that Bivins brings to the floor. It’ll be interesting to monitor who makes the push for his services over the next few months.
Currently ranked as our No. 121 overall prospect in the 2026 MADE Rankings, Bivins could see a healthy bump in the next update, especially if he maintains this level of production during the June scholastic live period.
