FBC Drive 2028 group showed us why they’re regarded as one of the most competitive programs in the country. The versatility and grittiness from this group was evident as they scrapped their way through close games and made it tough for opponents with their multifaceted attack. A tough group of girls who left a lasting impression with their performance as a collective, but had a few players share the spotlight individually.
Results: Losses to Team Takeover Jr. EYBL, Team outcasts and Team G. Win against the NH Saints.
Amani Sides is a tough, scrappy lead guard. Sides picked the intensity up on the defensive end and was very active on that side of the ball. She forced many turnovers that led to fastbreak opportunities with her active hands, and heavy ball pressure. Offensively, Sides used her speed and quickness to get into the lane where she finished plays by using her wiry strength.
#25 is a combo guard who excelled as a secondary playmaker for this group. She attacked the lane with force when she was able to get to her strong hand, penetrating the defense and using her upper body strength to absorb contact.
Nevaeah Clark’s physicality from the forward position was essential in FBC’s competitiveness during S2. Clark cleared out space in the lane, leveraging offensive rebound opportunities by using her footwork and strong base. Clark is adept at keeping the ball high, and tried her absolute best to finish with defenders draped all over her inside the lane, which ultimately led to her garnering attempts at the line.
#10 is a lanky forward who was very sound defensively. 10 used her length to alter shots inside, and battle for rebounding position on the defensive end. She was very useful and active on the backline of their 2-3 zone, quarterbacking the defense and bumping cutters off their route. Her active hands and defensive instincts led to her obtaining many steals as a help side defender.
Taylor Harkey proved to be a very sound and intelligent player from the guard position. Harkey made plays off of ball reversals in the half court, attacking the lane with quick rip through moves looking to attack the rim. Harkey also finished well in transition and did a little bit of everything to leave her imprint on the game.
