Four-Star Derek Dixon's Stock Is Rising, Recruitment Heating Up
October 17, 2023 by Travis Graf
When discussing underrated prospects in the 2025 recruiting class, Derek Dixon has to be at or near the top of that list. He's No. 51 in MADE Hoops' 2025 class rankings, which is his highest ranking nationally, and it still might be too low. The talented guard is being heavily courted by some of the top programs on the east coast and is also receiving interest from the Blue Blood level now. He broke down his recruitment with MADE Hoops below.
Schools Involved: “Villanova, Virginia, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh are probably the ones that are recruiting me the hardest right now.”
Villanova: “I’ve met a couple of the coaches and they’ve all told me pretty similar things. I’m building relationships with different coaches and the coaching staff. The tradition of the program, and how good they’ve been over the last 15 to 20 years.”
Virginia: “I’m really close with one of the assistant coaches there, I talk to him a decent amount. I took a visit there and I really enjoyed it. It was a good experience, and I liked a lot of the things that they said about how I could fit in with the way I play and things like that.”
Syracuse: “I just took an official there and they’ve been recruiting me really hard. They’re definitely showing me that they really want me. Just the playing style and the way the coaches think they could use me is really good.”
Pittsburgh: “I have a great relationship with the coaches there and I’ve taken two unofficials, last year and this year. Similarly, they broke down my game and how it could fit in with what they’re trying to do and what they’re trying to build there.”
Visit Plans: “This weekend I’m going to Midnight Madness for Villanova.”
New Schools Entering The Recruitment: “Iowa and West Virginia both just recently offered me, and Kansas has gotten involved. I’ve talked to Coach Norm (Roberts) from there.”
