The Scoring Factory are joining the Made Hoops Circuit for the first time this season. A talented program out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Steel City natives seem poised to make noise on the circuit this year. With that in mind, MADE Hoops caught up with program director Pete Strobl to talk about this season and basketball in western Pennsylvania as a whole.
Strobl had been coaching in Germany for 6 years before Covid hit and came back stateside with his family and settled in Pittsburgh. Now he will lead The Factory into MHC play this spring. It will be a family affair, as 2026 guard Peja Strobl will play a role for this group.
“We’re a very competitive family, with four kids even a card game can get intense. Peja is really focused and is very competitive guy who lives for the moment, he’s used to being in gyms, he’s been around big areas and traveling for Euro League play, he has a good head on his shoulders and is more worldly because of how he’s been brought up, he’s going to keep the ball moving and loves to make the little plays that help win games” Strobl said of his son.
It’s more than just a father coaching his son though, a pro player for 15 years in Europe, Strobl first formed The Scoring Factory as a way to help all Steel City hoopers in improving their craft. The goals for this season are clear
““Being a bunch of competitive guys, First and foremost we want to do everything to win, but we also want to show that Pittsburgh has players and has prospects here and we want to build a culture. We want to get back to being the best program in Pittsburgh with players from Pittsburgh, as of late there are always guys from West Virginia or Ohio on the area teams, and then there are high level guys that end up playing for non-Pittsburgh programs, we want to win with guys from the area,” he said.
While 2025 6-foot-10 Forward Tyler Robbins will suit up for them for what should be his last AAU season, a trio of underclassmen look like they will play big parts for The Scoring Factory this season. Sophomore point guard Naron Jackson comes from a basketball family as well and just had a very good season at Obama Academy. He joins Strobl in the backcourt. Freshman Ryan Robbins is a bruising forward who will give them an interior presence at 6-foot-7 and is comfortable playing alongside his older brother.
Partially because of those four, The Scoring Factory figures to be a factor in their first year of the MADE Hoops Circuit. It will be interesting to see who steps into the league and makes an immediate impact, putting colleges on notice. That being said, this is just the beginning for this talented group
“We believe that we need to build from the ground up so while we’re excited about this year, we understand that there’s still work to do and we’re excited about that work,” Strobl said.
Keep an eye out for them on the MADE Hoops Circuit this Spring and Summer. Keep it locked with MADE Hoops for coverage of all things MHC.
