The EYBL Scholastic League has several of the best high school programs in the country and a ton of talented prospects. They announced via social media all of their All Conference teams and awards. In this article we will focus on a local guard who got some well deserved accolades and has made all of Long Island proud.
Senior point guard Nigel James was honored on multiple fronts. The Marquette commit has been outstanding for the Crusaders all year and has been a huge factor in all their wins. While James didn’t make first team, he was named to the All Defensive team plus was named Defensive Player of the Year. He also got the nod for Sixth Man of the Year as well.
James is a Long Island native who took his talents to the NEPSAC before returning home for his Junior and Senior seasons. He has been a spark plug, an elite on ball defender, creates havoc in the passing lanes and always communicates on the court. His defensive instincts are off the charts, he has the athleticism of an NFL Corner back, he’s tough, lanky and not afraid of anyone. The Senior values winning above all, he’s competitive, will immediately improve your back court and loves his teammates.
Long Island Lutheran had a few early hiccups which forced them to climb back up the rankings. They are in the top five according to several different sites and just clipped Oak Hill in their first round matchup for the EYBL Scholastic League. The Crusaders were beaten by Brewster early on in the season and now LuHi will have their chance to avenge that loss and get to the Final Four. James will play a critical part if they are able to win a national title and don’t count out this team, they want to go out on a high note.
