Session II of the Nike EYBL circuit brought another high stakes weekend of grassroots basketball, and for Texas programs in the 16U division, it was one of the more telling sessions of the spring. All of the Texas teams in the field got their reps in, but two programs separated themselves from the pack, standing out not just among their in-state counterparts, but across the entire 16U division. What made those teams particularly hard to ignore was a combination of next level individual talent, impressive size, and good execution. These were teams playing with a clear identity and doing it at a high level. The EYBL is one of the most competitive grassroots circuits in the country, and performing at this level against a national field carries real weight during the spring evaluation period. With college coaches locked in and the road to Peach Jam beginning to take shape, Session II was exactly the kind of weekend where programs can make a statement and a couple of Texas teams did just that.
