North Carolina Swingman Jaylen Cross Commits to Wake Forest

One of North Carolina’s top senior guards, Jaylen Cross, has flipped his commitment. Originally committed to UNC Charlotte, Cross decommitted on April 13th, when the assistant coach who led his recruitment (Vic Sfera) left the program. After hearing from schools such as Ohio State, LSU, Arkansas State, and Wake Forest, he committed to the Demon Deacons on April 23rd.

It’s no surprise that Cross fielded interest from some of the top D1 schools in the country. The 6’4” guard is an incredible perimeter defender who can lock up any opposing guard. He’s incredibly athletic and is always good for a few monster dunks and blocks every game. That combined with his finishing, shot-making, and ability to run an offense makes Cross one of the most underrated players in the state. Alongside Cole Cloer and King Kendrick, Cross led Caldwell Academy to the 2025 2A NCISAA state championship.

Wake Forest is also great for Cross because it allows him to stay close to home. Caldwell Academy is only a 30-minute drive away, so his friends and family will get to cheer him on while he competes in the ACC. In a 2025 recruiting class that’s seen big names go to Duke, UNC Chapel-Hill, and NC State, Cross adds some firepower to Wake Forest, alongside fellow incoming freshman Issac Carr.
