NY Big Men on the Move

The spotlight is shining on several talented forwards, with some already locking in their college decisions and others watching their recruitment heat up this spring. Whether it’s late-blooming seniors or breakout underclassmen, these bigs are making noise—and college programs are taking notice. Here’s a look at some of the most intriguing frontcourt prospects whose stock is soaring.

MJ Madison | 2026 F | Long Island Lutheran (NY)

A high-major prospect with elite tools, MJ Madison transferred to LuHi last season and took time to settle in—but once he did, he made a major impact. His athleticism, motor, physicality, and mentality stand out, and he’s shown he can thrive in a team-first role. Madison brings energy on both ends, finishes above the rim, and understands how to impact winning. Syracuse was the latest to offer him, and that could be a perfect fit for a Top 25 program looking for a versatile, explosive forward.

Nico Onyekwere | 2025 F | Long Island Lutheran (NY)

After joining LuHi for his senior year, Nico Onyekwere became a cornerstone of their interior defense. His motor is elite, his effort level consistent, and his game has improved steadily throughout the year. Initially committed to Florida State, Onyekwere reopened his recruitment after coaching changes in Tallahassee. Villanova wasted no time pouncing, landing a strong, high-upside forward to bolster their 2025 class.

Adonis Ratliff & Darius Ratliff | 2026 F | Archbishop Stepinac (NY)

It’s nearly impossible to mention one Ratliff without the other—and that’s a good thing for Stepinac. The Ratliff twins have been rising quickly in the national conversation, with Adonis catching fire late in the season and Darius building momentum earlier in the year. Both possess rare size for wings in the 2026 class, with length, mobility, and game-changing defensive potential.

Their professionalism, work ethic, and character are as impressive as their basketball résumés. Recently, Louisville and Pittsburgh were both in the building as the offers rolled in. Whether they land at the same program or not, it’s clear: both Ratliffs are primed for national breakout attention.

Ore Odutayo | 2025 Forward | Williston Northampton (MA)

A rising big from Albany, Ore Odutayo is quickly becoming a hot name in 2025 recruiting. He visited Coppin State and left with an offer, while VMI soon followed with another. Coaches love his physicality, motor, and growth potential. He’s a high-character kid who will add value to any program—and should’ve been off the board long ago. Expect more offers as his recruitment heats up this summer.

CJ Dorreliand | 2025 Forward | Eagle Academy Bronx (NY)

A PSAL standout, CJ Dorreliand is one of the more underrated athletic forwards in the city. He plays above the rim, blocks shots, and brings toughness on the defensive end. As his confidence grew this season, so did his production—he took over games at times and continues to develop his all-around skill set. After weighing his options, Dorreliand signed with Dominican College (CACC), where he could become a major factor in their frontcourt.

Aaron Mitchell | 2025 Forward | Mount St. Michael (NY)

Aaron Mitchell may not be a finished product, but that’s exactly why his recruitment matters. A physical, tough, undersized big who does the dirty work, Mitchell impacts the game as a small-ball 5 or a high-motor 4. He rebounds, sets hard screens, plays with force, and doesn’t need plays called for him. Queens College (NY) saw his potential early and earned his commitment. If he continues to grow, Mitchell could be a hidden gem in the CHSAA.
