NY Star Guards Seeing Recruitment Spike

Now that the class of 2025 is finally wrapping up, all eyes shift to the class of 2026—and luckily for college programs, prep schools, and JUCOs, New York is absolutely stacked. This class features intriguing bigs, elite guards, athletic wings, serious depth, and most importantly—major star power. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest names in the Empire State and check out what’s new on their radar.

First up is 2026 shooting guard Jasiah Jervis from Archbishop Stepinac. The All-CHSAA selection capped off a monster junior season and has been electric on the EYBL with the New York Rens. He’s their leading scorer and top offensive option, hitting shots from all over the floor while being extremely efficient with his touches. Jervis is one of the premier scorers in the 2026 class, with pro potential, a sky-high basketball IQ, and a smooth feel for the game. Villanova is the most recent school to offer, and Jervis will soon be updating his recruitment as he sorts through a long list of high-major suitors.

While Jervis gets a lot of the attention, another major piece of the Rens’ undefeated run on the circuit has been the stellar play of 2026 point guard Jordan Skyers, now at OSL. The former Hayes standout made the move to play with Jelly Fam at the start of the high school season and switched AAU programs as well. His tape from the first two EYBL sessions has been special—he’s running the point at a high level, dominating defensively, and steadily boosting his stock. Skyers’ offer list continues to grow, with Fairfield and Sacred Heart joining the mix this week.

Next is 2026 shooting guard Lucas Morillo of Newman, a former All-CHSAA guard and NEPSAC champion. The international prospect has long been seen as a potential star, and now he’s delivering consistently. His game took a big leap this season—he was one of the most dynamic scorers in the NEPSAC, and he’s carried that energy onto the AAU circuit with City Rocks 17U. He’s been scoring at will, nearly averaging a double-double, and remains the team’s most reliable offensive weapon. Morillo’s recruitment has absolutely taken off, with Iowa, UCLA, and VCU all offering recently. His recruitment remains wide open—with no favorites—for now.

While this article focuses on New York’s best local talent, the next name on the list is taking things to a whole other level. That would be 2026 guard Jahda Swann of Thomas Jefferson and the New York Lightning. Swann put together one of the most impressive seasons we’ve seen from a PSAL prospect in recent memory, and he’s still got more to come. NYC has long known what he’s capable of, but the rest of the country is starting to catch up. His recruitment is heating up fast, with new offers this week from Kansas, Providence, and ECU. Swann is closing in on being the top-ranked player in the state, and the sky truly is the limit.

New York City usually grabs the headlines—but let’s not forget about the rest of the state. 2026 point guard Ryan Moesch of Cushing Academy first popped onto the radar a couple seasons ago when he was putting up video game numbers upstate. He heard the noise, took the challenge, and transferred to the NEPSAC for tougher competition—and somehow got even better. Moesch is a pure hooper—high IQ, tough, unselfish, and a guy who just helps teams win. College coaches dream of floor generals like this, and someone is going to land a gem. His recruitment, like many others in this class, remains wide open. La Salle became the latest school to offer.
