Syracuse fans can now celebrate, because one of their local stars is staying home: 2026 guard Ryan Moesch has committed this week to be part of the rebuild with new head coach Gerry McNamara. Moesch – who was previously committed to Siena – now has a chance to play for the school he grew up watching.
The pathway to this commitment was straightforward. When Syracuse hired McNamara – a former standout guard for the Orange – away from Siena, Moesch reopened his recruitment. He had other suitors, but chose to follow McNamara and joins former Siena players Gavin Doty and Tasman Goodrick at Syracuse.
A few years ago, Moesch became a breakout star playing for Chittenango High School near Syracuse. He kept that momentum rolling on the circuit with Crown basketball and then decided to transfer to Cushing Academy in Massachusetts. The bet on himself paid off, as he produced at Cushing and continued to shine on the circuit with Middlesex Magic and ended up earning several Division I scholarship offers.
This season, Moesch led Cushing to a perfect 17-0 record against AA competition en route to a Class AA boys championship. He was named MVP of the title game as the Penguins down Chesire, 64-55.
The skillset Moesch has should be able to translate at the next level. He’s a shifty three-level scorer who can create for teammates and lift the play of others. His IQ is sensational, he takes care of the ball, loves to compete, and always wants to win. Offensively he checks off so many boxes, and his on ball defense, rebounding, and ability to get through screens has all improved.
Moesch’s decision to commit to Syracuse and follow Coach McNamara completes his recruiting journey and provides the Orange with a sensational talent. Cuse fans can look forward to seeing this local star play for the school he grew up watching, as he aims to be a foundational piece in the rebuilding efforts under McNamara.
