Whyte Hot: Vermont Academy 2027 Guard Joins Elite Company

Kamari Whyte (Anoke Deitg-Blanchard)

The Vermont Academy is an excellent program that competes in the New England Preparatory School Athetic Council AAA Division. They consistently feature a dynamic roster and usually have some star power. This group is no different and their go-to guy – 2027 wing Kamari Whyte – just made history.

Whyte just surpassed the 1,000-point mark, becoming only the fourth player in school history to do so. He joins Bruce Brown of the Denver Nuggets, St. John’s guard Joson Sanon and Towson guard Chike Ndefo. This accomplishment is just another accolade for Whyte, who orginally broke out as a sophomore at St. Ray’s in New York City before he made the move tothe NEPSAC. His game has taken over since headed to Vermont and he’s more dangerous than ever.

Earlier in the season we got a chance to evaluate Whyte at Holy Cross College when his team competed in the Roundball Classic. He’s a physical athlete who’s extremely tough, plays above the rim, loves to score inside and has improved his outside game. His on ball defense is superb, he’s aggressive, has a fantastic motor and is an alpha. This junior checks off a ton of boxes and with his skillset he could be an impact player at a lot of Division I programs.

This NYC standout may only be a junior but he has seen some activity regarding his recruitment. Schools have been checking in on him, and he currently holds offers to East Carolina, Florida International and Rhode Island. He should get a nice spark and don’t be surprised to see a few more offers roll in before the summer. It will be interesting to see who takes the lead in his recruitment this offseason.
